To the Editor:

Several people have asked whether the SPCA of Petersburg- Colonial Heights will be taking part in the microchip program sponsored by the Richmond SPCA. The answer is, unfortunately, no, since we are a separate and much smaller group. Nor are we able to furnish the free spay and spay/neuter program to help every pet owner who asks. Many people say they support "the SPCA," while some actually contribute to the huge ASPCA in New York, the first SPCA in the nation. Others donate to a variety of human organizations, believing we are all chapters of a national unit. This is not the case.
