PETERSBURG -- Sen. Barack Obama made a stop in Petersburg on his way to Chesapeake yesterday. A sudden appearance by the Beatles could not have sparked more excitement.

When Obama's black nightliner bus with its tinted windows and a second bus with reporters pulled up in front of Longstreet's Deli on the corner of Sycamore and Market streets around 2.30 p.m., Virginia State Police, Secret Service and local law enforcement officers quickly sealed off the block to shield the campaigners from screaming supporters, who started to cluster on the sidewalks.
