PRINCE GEORGE -- Since the first Crater Criminal Justice Training Academy opened its doors in 1975, it has trained thousands of law enforcement officers. One year ago, it moved from the campus of Richard Bland College to a brand new $1.8 million facility near Disputanta. It recently opened its doors to The Progress-Index for the first time.

Donald Hunter used to be sheriff in Prince George. But in June 2007, he was appointed the academy's director just in time for the move to the new building off County Drive.
