State Sen. Quayle, Democrat Heretick Roll Over Rivals in Primaries

HOPEWELL -- Voters in Hopewell, Prince George and Surry counties had their say in state politics Tuesday, backing state Sen. Fred Quayle and Stephen Heretick in parallel primaries. Incumbent Quayle, a Republican, nabbed 83 percent of votes against challenger Richard Ramsey Sr. With 77 of 78 precincts reporting, Hopewell native Heretick topped David Bouchard in the Democratic primary, 3,102- 1276.

"It's been an amazing day," Heretick said, tired but jovial. "It doesn't look close in any district."
