HOPEWELL -- Only one day after spectators and participants braved icy rain and chilling temperatures at the Petersburg Christmas parade, yesterday's parades in Hopewell and Prince George County happened under blue skies with few clouds.

Maybe it was the theme of Hopewell's parade -- "Tropical Christmas" -- which served as a good luck charm. Hundreds came out to watch the 57 participants, as they strolled down City Point Road starting at the Community Center all the way to Cavalier Square Shopping Center, leaving little standing room on the 1.2-mile route.
