On the Road with the 4-H Music Biz Club

Summary


The Prince George 4-H Music Biz Club has been on the road performing for events across the state with rave reviews.The group consists of 4-H members from Prince George County, Petersburg, Chesterfield County, and Richmond Virginia. They do a variety of music, including Neo Soul, Gospel, Pop, Rock, Country, and Jazz. They performed at Virginia Tech as the featured guest musical group on the 4-H Congress Share the Fun Show. They also performed for the Petersburg Office on Youth at their Youth Summit held at Virginia State University. The members included Elizabeth Johnson on keyboards and vocals, Josh Maclin on drums, Justin Brown and Lawrence Jeffries on keyboards, Latasha Mayers, Nicole Jefferson, Warren Newell, Arielle Squire, Shawneeque Edwards, and Sydni Marshall on vocals, Mark Roman on trumpet, Will Roman on congas, and John Holden on guitar.

The Music Biz Club (MBC) is made up of several soloists and groups that do their own thing as well as perform as one big band helping each other out as needed. One product of the Music Biz Club is a Jazz and Neo Soul group called "Sons of the Blues". They performed in Petersburg at Poplar Lawn Park for the city's "Life through Literature" festival receiving a standing ovation. Immediately following that event, "Sons of the Blues" performed for the statewide 4-H Reunion in Emporia, Virginia.
