PETERSBURG -- Three weeks ago, the Petersburg football team was dead. A damaging Monday night, double-overtime loss to Hopewell dropped the Wave to 2-3 overall with several tough teams remaining on the schedule and little hope for a playoff berth.

Times have changed for the Crimson Wave, who now stand at 4-3 and can take a large step towards clinching a Division 5 playoff berth Friday at Thomas Dale. One big reason for the turnaround has been the play of senior linebacker Rasean "Rock" Jones, who came over from Dinwiddie before the season.
