PETERSBURG - More than two years after it got the go-ahead from City Council and just over a year after it almost went up in smoke, the first phase of a $100 million redevelopment project is gearing up to welcome its first tenants.

Perry Street Lofts, a 149-unit loft-style apartment complex in one large section of the former Brown and Williamson cigarette factory, is taking lease applications, and the project's first residents are scheduled to start moving in next month.
