Carole Ann Torrence Moore of Colonial Heights, Va., died unexpectedly, Aug. 28, 2007.

Carole Ann, born March 14, 1938, was a lifelong resident of Colonial Heights.She graduated from Petersburg High School, where she was a member of the marching and concert bands. She continued her love affair with music and the flute graduating from College Conservatory of Music and Teachers College at the University of Cincinnati in 1959. She received a BS in flute/choral and instrumental education. She studied with Robert Cavalli, flutist, while at the university. Her teaching credits include Petersburg High School, Thomas Dale High School (1959-1968), VCU Performing Arts School, flute and piano (1972-1977), and Longwood University, adj. flute instructor (1977-1979). From 1959 until her death, Carole Ann operated the Carole T. Moore Flute, Piano Studio. From 1981 to 1984, Carole Ann was the organist at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Colonial Heights; and then later organist with Trinity Methodist Church, Petersburg. In 1984, Carole Ann turned in a new direction. She was a management assistant/educational specialist, U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School Fort Lee, Va., until her retirement in 1997.
