CHESTERFIELD -- Growth is the hot issue for two candidates in this evening's firehouse primary. The primary is being held not by the county, but by the Chesterfield County Republican Committee. The party chose to hold the firehouse primary, or voter canvass, to pick the person who will represent the party on the November ballot.

Voters can choose between Mark D. Tubbs and Kevin Salminen to take the Matoaca District Board of Supervisors seat of Renny Humphrey, who is retiring.
