COLONIAL HEIGHTS -- Although the local real estate market in Colonial Heights declined from the housing frenzy of the last five years, some citizens have voiced concerns over the increased assessments despite the recent reduction in the real estate tax rate.

In March, City Council approved a reduced real estate tax rate of $1.10 for every $100 of a home's assessed value. That number is down 10 cents since 2006, and was reduced 5 cents from the beginning of 2008.
